Anderson Symphony Orchestra Announces Daniel Wiley as New Artistic Director and Conductor

The Anderson Symphony Orchestra is proud to announce the appointment of Daniel Wiley as its new Artistic Director and Conductor, following a yearlong national search and a season of guest appearances by five exceptional finalists.

The announcement was made at a special luncheon event held on April 28, 2025, at the Paramount Ballroom, where patrons, musicians, and community supporters gathered to celebrate the beginning of an exciting new chapter in ASO’s history.

“Daniel brings a dynamic combination of artistic excellence, inspiring leadership, and a deep sense of community connection,” said Darla Sallee, Executive Director of the Anderson Symphony Orchestra. “The response from our musicians, audience, and board was overwhelmingly positive, and it became clear that Daniel is the right choice to guide ASO into its next era.”

Daniel Wiley has been recognized for his innovative programming, clear and expressive conducting style, and his ability to forge strong connections with both musicians and audiences. His concert with the ASO—Fate and Destiny—which opened the 2024–2025 season and featured works by Simon, Mozart, and Tchaikovsky, was widely praised by patrons and performers alike, sparking an immediate and lasting rapport.

The ASO’s decision was heavily informed by feedback from musicians and community members, whose voices were integral to the search process.

“Our musicians spoke clearly—Daniel was the top choice, not just for his talent, but for his collaborative spirit and ability to elevate the ensemble,” said Sallee.

Wiley will begin his tenure with the ASO in the 2025–2026 season. Dates and programming for the upcoming season will be announced soon.
