Classical Masterworks
This season we celebrate the outstanding leadership of Maestro Rick Sowers, who will retire in April 2024 after 35 years as our music director and conductor. For his final season with us, Maestro has created six concerts that promise to be truly memorable.
Audiences will be treated to soaring works of music that are among Rick’s personal favorites. Gifted ASO members will be featured in exceptional solo performances. An “Evening of Song” will reunite Rick with well-known vocalists who will return to the Paramount stage to pay tribute to their friend and colleague.
The 2023-24 season is a time to celebrate Maestro’s gifts as we anticipate a future that builds on the standard of excellence that he has set.
The fourth concert of the ASO season welcomes Sirena Huang, gold medal winner of the 2022 International Violin Competition of Indianapolis and one of the world’s finest young violinists, as our guest artist. She will perform the Tchaikovsky Violin Concerto in D Major. The Beethoven Overture to Egmont will begin the concert, and Brahms Symphony No. 1, one of Sowers’ favorite symphonies, will round out the evening of classical masterworks.
